Jacques Chardonne, pen name of Jacques Boutelleau, born in Barbezieux on January 2, 1884 and died in La Frette-sur-Seine on May 29, 1968, is a French writer and publisher. As the elder of writer Pierre-Henri Simon from Charente, he was part of the Barbezieux Group with Geneviève Fauconnier, Henri Fauconnier, Maurice Delamain, Jacques Delamain, Germaine Boutelleau, although this "geographical" group did not share the same views.

Considered an extreme right-wing author, he, along with Paul Morand, is one of the spiritual fathers of what were called "The Hussars", writers Roger Nimier, Jacques Laurent, Antoine Blondin and Michel Déon. Lot of 12 autographed letters signed by Jacques Chardonne (accompanied by 3 typewritten letters signed by Camille Chardonne) addressed to Louis Guitard and Ginette Guitard-Auviste (biographer of Jacques Chardonne) in 1962 and 1967 - good condition, folds related to mailing - with some of their envelopes. Jacques Chardonne wishes to prepare the sale of his house in La Frette and seeks advice from his lawyer friend Louis Guitard.

January 16, 1962, La Frette - 4 pages on 2 sheets sized 21 x 27. Dear friend, if I write to you (and not to your husband) regarding a legal question; it is because there is a matter of trust involved where I entrust myself to you, and you will be responsible for it, and also it involves a bit of literature, and the domain that you have glorified. But it must be understood (and you make this commitment to me by giving him the attached letter) that the question I pose to him and the answer he gives, in essence, the information he provides me with will be rewarded by the mandate he deems appropriate. Otherwise, you will have betrayed me.

By giving him the attached letter, you make a commitment to me. It concerns La Frette, in the future. I do not want this house, which belongs a little to literary France, where I have written all my work, to be, after my death, a battlefield for somewhat foolish heirs, and sold by them to anyone.

I wish to choose the future buyer myself; that is done. It will be agreed that the house, of which he now becomes the owner and which he will only occupy after the death of my wife and me, will only be paid for by him after our death. This arrangement (let's say in ten or fifteen years) will be made to my heirs. The figure (the selling price) being set now. This, which you will kindly explain to your husband, being said, you will find attached, the two questions that I pose to him.
