Théodore GUDIN, autograph letter signed, dated February 14, 1864. This is an autograph letter signed by the French painter Théodore GUDIN. In it, he apologizes to the recipient for the delay of a work: "I began this work, which was interrupted by very serious obligations." He also explains that this delay will be justified by his hard work to complete his painting and make it a masterpiece: "You will have no reason to regret the delay I have caused in satisfying you." He asks his correspondent for "a few more days of patience."

Jean Antoine Théodore Gudin, born on August 15, 1802 in Paris and died on April 11, 1880 in Boulogne-Billancourt, was a French painter. Along with Louis-Philippe Crépin, he was one of the first two Marine painters. His early works, influenced by the Romantic spirit and the English school of painting, were highly regarded.
