RUDE (François). Signed autograph letter. 1853
1 page in-4, Paris, November 27, 1853. Interesting letter regarding the statue of Marshal Ney, commissioned by Napoleon III in 1852 from François Rude, which the sculptor is currently finishing: I wrote yesterday to Monsieur de Gisors to inform him that the statue will be fully completed and ready for him in the morning of December 5. The foundrymen and I have put in all possible effort to meet the deadline given to us. In fact, the bronze statue, which rests on a white marble pedestal created by Alphonse de Gisors, will be inaugurated on December 7, 1853, at the corner of Boulevard Saint Michel and Boulevard de Port-Royal, at the very location where the marshal was executed on December 7, 1815. A beautiful document, well preserved.
