Rare autographed letter signed by Louis Charles Victor Riquet de Caraman, Ambassador to Vienna. Letter addressed from Vienna on May 20, 1820 to General Laplane in response to a previous letter to inform him of the treatment of the Emperor's endowments. the Emperor having recognized in principle the validity of the endowments in Illyria, a statement of these endowments was presented to his minister, in which yours is included... A folded sheet forming 4 pp. With handwritten letter on two sides. Letter probably drafted by a secretary with the autographed signature of the Ambassador at the end. Ink of the writing smudged with transfer to the back. Dimensions: 24.5 cm x 20.4 cm. He notably counts Pierre-Paul Riquet among his ancestors.
The document will be sent flat to the buyer in rigid packaging. Condition: slight wear, fold and handling marks, part of the back cut and missing, a cut at the beginning of the central fold, corners creased, otherwise good condition.
