Autographed letter signed, addressed to Jacques Laffitte, 1840. Autographed letter signed by Pierre-François Audry de Puyravault, addressed to Monsieur Jacques Laffitte, dated May 18, 1840, written in brown ink on a double sheet of vellum paper, with his red seal.

Sir, Upon returning to France to occupy the asylum that I owe to your generosity, I did not believe I would be obliged to leave it so soon. Your kindness, Sir, and the interest that a few friends take in me create this obligation, perhaps to spare them from new sacrifices. Thomas sent me two thousand francs that, in your solicitude for me, you had sought to hand over to me. I leave, Sir, with a heart full of gratitude for all the sacrifices you make to improve my sad situation; and with the comforting intention of returning to live as soon as I can, the good that I leave with such regret: all faith, if it is not displeasing to you and does not interfere with your interests.

Please accept, Sir, the assurance of my most sincere devotion.
