Famous letter in which the poet recommends the portraitist ladislas loévy who "desirs to make [his] portrait for popular life. A painter, illustrator and engraver of Polish origin, Ladislas loévy (wladyslaw loevy) was active in Paris between the late 1880s and 1921. He is quoted by beraldi (the 19th century engravers, volume 9) as "young engraver" for his portraits of murger and rich pine (published by joly in 1888) but is especially famous for drawing the portraits of verlain and edmond of goncourt on their deathbed.
