July 13, 1903, a few months before his death on December 16, 1903. He is likely addressing a music publisher and conveying four corrections on proofs, the first of which states, "The E flat marked in pencil has not been erased by distraction. It is indeed the G that needs to be maintained, page 102, line of the song." The fourth correction is illustrated with a staff containing notes and lyrics.

He concludes by writing that he is lost in the proofing process. An unsigned handwritten manuscript page with three staves (notes and lyrics) is included, done in ink and pencil.
