Set of 8 signed autograph letters from Nélie Jacquemart, undated, written in black or brown ink on double leaves of watermarked wove paper, two letters bear her embossed monogram at the top. They contain very personal accents: in several missives, she solicits from her correspondent "your protection with the Captain," as she is about to embark on a long journey to the Indies, passing through Cairo, Port Said, Alexandria, and reaching Ceylon. She thanks her correspondent for his kindness, repeatedly apologizes for her "indiscretions," and expresses sincere gratitude. In other letters, she invites him to her home to create sketches and shows her interest in two books he sent her, which she looks forward to reading.
