Max Jacob / Signed Autograph Letter (1926) / The Sagittarius / Kra
Signed autograph letter, saint-benoît sur loire, June 21, 1926, to the Belgian publisher pierre aelberts, 2 pages in-4. \Lalbum leaves today in registered parcel: it has big blankets in cloth and will arrive in perfect state. I urge you to make sure that no one pulls a sheet of paper here and there (as it once did and made a big deal). The friends to whom a page pleases do not scruple to take ownership: I numbered the pages and drew up a table of contents. If we must or can reproduce these drawings as an album (which I do not dislike), I will authorize it only against a contract fixing my rights for each edition and each copy, etc. I am delighted that you have our infernal visions: I would have been happy to offer you a copy but I did not even mine.
In the same way for the original portraits, I do not want more: what I can do best would be to redo my portrait in the same spirit: I had I believe a cap on the head and a scarf. I could do this portrait in the 22 x 28 dimension, which is about the size of the album, and I would only ask you 400 francs, sensible that I am interested in your interest in my poor person. Answer me as soon as you can, about the album (ask me at my usual merchant) and about the portrait. I am very cordially yours.
