Marshal de Lauriston autograph letter signed Gretry Lefresnois

Jacques Alexandre Law, Marquis de Lauriston. Autograph letter signed “Mis de Lauriston” to Mlle Gretry. Slight traces of a wax seal.
Lauriston sends his correspondent:
“A letter for Mr. Chevalier de Lefrenois, who is in charge, on behalf of the ladies’ committee of the old registered list, of receiving requests from people who believe they are entitled to receive assistance, and at the same time of verifying their credentials. Therefore, it is to Monsieur de Lefrenois that you must address yourself.”
In 1784, Lauriston entered the Military School of Paris, where he met Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1800, he became his aide-de-camp before being appointed General of Division in 1805, then Governor-General of Venice in 1807. In 1823, he was raised to the dignity of Marshal of France before serving as Minister of State in 1824.
“You will find enclosed, Miss, a letter for Mr. Chevalier de Lefrenois, who is in charge, on behalf of the ladies’ committee of the old registered list, of receiving requests from people who believe they are entitled to receive assistance, and at the same time of verifying their credentials. Therefore, it is to Monsieur de Lefrenois that you must address yourself.
Mme de Lauriston, at my request, has been quick to prepare this letter of introduction. I have the honor to greet you.
