Written in black ink on a double sheet of pink vellum paper with gilt edges. In which she talks about her sister Marguerite d'Orléans, whom she nicknames "Puss," and her husband Marie Armand Patrice de Mac Mahon.

Thank you a thousand times for your kind letter; I am so touched that you thought of me; and I so regret not having seen you during my stay in France, and I sincerely hope that if I come this year, I will have the pleasure of meeting you. We had a lovely stay there, and I took some snapshots; when they are developed, I will take the liberty of sending some to you. I extend my best wishes for 1898 to you and yours. I was so happy to see that Puss is doing so well, as Patrice takes such good care of her, and I know how kind you are to Puss; she often speaks of you, and I am so happy for Patrice that he has this beautiful command. Goodbye, Madame, allow me to respectfully kiss you, and believe me always your affectionate.
