Autographed letter signed by Margaret Todd, dated November 27, 1903, written in black ink on a double sheet of watermarked paper with the heading "Hotel da Matta, Bussaco, Portugal." "Madam, I thank you a thousand times for your kindness to my 'little friend,' and for your lovely letter, which gave me much pleasure. I wanted to reply immediately, but, as you see! I have made a great journey since I wrote to you.

We are here because of the health of one of my friends. It is a superb climate, and the country is as beautiful as I have ever seen.
