Marcel Reggui, a French citizen of Muslim origin who converted to Catholicism, was one of the first authors to publish a detailed account of these events, at a time when the subject was still poorly documented. His book The Guelma Massacres holds a notable place in the early historiography of these events, due to its early publication and direct insight into the facts.
