2 separate sheets of 27 x 21 cm (remnants of mounting on tabs on the left margins). Concerning the amputation of his right leg in February 1963, due to severe arteritis. Enclosed is a letter from their son Frédéric PAGNOL, addressed to his "godfather" (1 sheet of 21 x 13.5 cm). Reading the Petit Crapouillot moved us greatly.

We know your courage, and we can imagine how much you must have suffered, physically and emotionally. But in the end, you are still here, and even if you can no longer play tennis, you will referee the Davis Cup in a pleasant and sovereign manner.

At the table, you will not suffer, and you will always be the same for those who love you, like us. And then, you will write books, which may be even more beautiful than the last one, which fully deserves its great success. Truly, at our ages, we must give up many things: I assure you that tennis is not the only provider of happiness. It had given you the illusion of youth until this year, but your true youth is in your books and articles: that, you will never lose. When will we be able to see you? We both send you our love, with more affection than ever.
