Jean-Marie ROLAND DE LA PLATIERE (1734 - 1793), French economist and statesman, husband of Madame Roland. He committed suicide on November 10, 1793, when he learned of his wife's execution at the Place de Grève. Letter signed to Monsieur Arnaud, ordinary engineer of public works. Letter of appointment as Minister of the Interior: “I inform you that I have just assigned you to the department of Charente-Inférieure as an ordinary engineer of public works with a salary of 2,400 f, which will be paid to you from the day you take office. You are kindly requested to proceed without delay to this Directory to receive its orders. My letter will serve as your commission.
