Set of two signed autograph letters from Ludovic Halévy. The first letter, signed and undated, is addressed to a friend, written in black ink on a double sheet of watermarked laid paper. In this first letter, Halévy recounts a confrontation with the theater director Léon Carvalho, who was then in charge of the Opéra-Comique. Hurt by a disparaging remark, he reacts firmly and threatens to no longer frequent the institution.
