Louise Bertin Autographed Letter Signed for a Rehearsal 1860

  

Coming from an influential family, she benefited from a privileged musical education and composed several operas, including La Esmeralda, based on Victor Hugo's Notre-Dame de Paris, with whom she maintained a friendly relationship. She is one of the few composers of her time who had her works performed at the Opéra de Paris.

In this letter, she mentions a rehearsal scheduled for a Friday and asks her correspondent to inform Mlle [Mitant] of the changes, as she does not know her address.
