Gustave Olivier Lannes de Montebello. Autographed letter dated September 11, 1866 from Paris. One-page letter addressed to a "Princess", possibly Princess Eugénie de Montijo, a friend of his wife Adrienne de Villeneuve. He apologizes for not being able to visit her as he had to deal with "business matters".

Dimensions: 13 x 18.5 cm. Gustave Olivier Lannes, Baron of Montebello and of the Empire, known as the "Count of Montebello", was a French military and politician of the 19th century. María Eugenia Ignacia Agustina de Palafox y Kirkpatrick, 19th Countess of Teba - known as Eugénie de Montijo - was born on May 5, 1826 in Granada and died on July 11, 1920 in Madrid. She was the wife of Napoleon III, Emperor of the French. Adrienne de Villeneuve-Bargemont, was an aristocrat, lady-in-waiting to Empress Eugénie de Montijo.
