Size: 13 x 21.5 cm / with frame: 34.5 x 41.5 cm. Amélina Hubert-Delisle (née Pignolet de Fresne) was the wife of Louis-Henri Hubert-Delisle, a Creole born in the Saint-Benoît district of Bourbon Island (Réunion), where he would become governor in 1852. Amélina, who was said to be very beautiful, served as a lady-in-waiting to Empress Eugénie. Our quatrain refers to Amélina's Réunionese origins (Réunion being located to the west of the Indian Ocean). It comes in a beautiful carved black wooden frame protected by UV and anti-reflective glass.

He frequently hosted Alphonse de Lamartine, Ferdinand de Lesseps, and Marshal Mac-Mahon there.
