Autographed letter signed, Paris, December 1, 1856, 43 rue de la Ville l'Evêque. 2 and a half pages in-8. My subscribers are not just an audience to me, they are a family of friends.

I am aware that personal kindness has played a bigger role than necessity in your literary subscription. I do not humiliate myself for this, I take pride in it. I prefer cordiality over glory. The author explains the importance of subscribing from the first issue to avoid any interruption. "Please be so kind, Madam, as to send me your response as soon as possible to avoid the very expensive costs of printing and unnecessary loss (..." A very rare letter from the great romantic poet of the 19th century, who adopts an almost obsequious tone to secure the financial support of a subscriber for a work that will be released monthly in installments: "Cours familier de littérature." Despite his literary successes and significant royalties, Lamartine indeed bought several castles and vast vineyard estates that cost him a lot of money and eventually put him in debt.

The situation became almost unbearable from the 1850s onwards. Part of his correspondence will then mention his financial problems, as he exhausts himself in seeking more and more new subscribers while producing works that are often purely for financial gain. All the works and letters I offer are in excellent condition, and any flaws, if there are any, are meticulously described. The packages, perfectly secure, are shipped within 48 hours. I am here to answer your questions and provide additional photos if you wish.

Thank you for your interest and trust.
