Handwritten letter signed to Mr., undated, with his address at the top.

Jean-Léon Gérôme talks about an exhibition, for which the Minister of Public Instruction gives him works belonging to the Luxembourg, and these works must be insured for the duration of the exhibition. He has been unwell with influenza for two days. Petit, I received a letter from the Minister of Public Instruction, in which he gives us the four works that belong to the Luxembourg for the Exhibition. He ends his letter with this paragraph: "Furthermore, the value of the works temporarily placed at your disposal will be covered by insurance during the duration of the Exhibition, that is to say, from the moment they leave the Luxembourg until the time they are returned, with the amount to be discussed between the committee and the Administration." Therefore, we need to set a price for each work, make the proposal to the Director, and arrange with him for the insurance.
