Signed autograph letter, dated December 30, 1737. Signed autograph letter from Jean-Jacques Lefranc, Marquis de Pompignan, addressed to his cousin Mr. De Tournier, President at Mortier in the Parliament of Toulouse, dated December 30, 1737 in Caïx, to wish him a happy new year. A few years later, very devout, he sought, like his friend Louis Racine, inspiration in sacred texts, publishing in 1751 and 1755 the two volumes of his Sacred Poems, inspired by the Psalms and the Prophets.

It is from these Sacred Poems, a kind of hymns, that Voltaire, who did not like Lefranc, said: "Sacred they are, for no one touches them." Dimensions: 16.8 x 22.2 cm. Condition: See photos for more details.
