Autograph letter signed " h vernet " to m. In-12 old mounting mark on the back, small gap on the lower left margin (stamp hole). Vernet makes himself available to his correspondent for the necessary explanations on a report he wrote without glasses. Tassin, I took the report yesterday.

A French painter and member of the institute, he received his training in the workshop of his father, to whom theodore géricault often visited. The two young painters become friends and this probably influenced a romantic style in the vernet's work. Géricault also allowed him to meet people from North Africa and the Middle East, long before Horace actually visited Algeria in 1833.
