Autographed letter signed, Scientific Conferences in the Crêtes, 1850. French chemist, physicist, and photographer. Autographed letter signed by Henri Victor Regnault, undated. Written in black ink on a double sheet of vellum paper. This letter is addressed to a young lady in his circle.

Regnault writes from the Crêtes, where he has just arrived to participate in a series of scientific conferences with his colleagues: Dear Miss, We arrived in the Crêtes yesterday at 3 o'clock, and at 5 o'clock the postman brought me your second letter. I am glad to hear that all is well in Lassignieu, at least as well as could be hoped. Du Bochet in very good health and very eager to immediately undertake the Conferences, which are the main purpose of our current gathering.

I am writing this little note hurriedly before we start our first session so that the letter can leave this morning. I cannot say yet how many days I will stay in the Crêtes - I will shorten it as much as I can, besides Mr.

Camus is eager to return to Paris, which will make things easier. My health is very good - Affection and tenderness to all of ours. A rare epistolary testimony from Regnault, revealing his work stays and collaborations with other scholars.

13.4 x 20.8 cm. Condition: Traces of a tab on the back, otherwise in good preservation condition.
