I will likely spend the night either in Bern or Lausanne, and I will be in Geneva at the latest for the 3:38 departure. By taking the train from Bern at 10:30, I will arrive in Geneva at 3:09 Geneva time. That is all that is needed.
If I stay in Lausanne, I can be in Geneva earlier and will then come to see you. I have shared your letter with Mr.
A the day after tomorrow.
A member of the Academy of Sciences, a professor at the Collège de France and the École Normale Supérieure, Sainte-Claire Deville was one of the great French chemists of the 19th century. He is particularly known for inventing the industrial production process of aluminum (1854), which helped transform this rare metal into a strategic and accessible material. His work also touched on mineralogy and high temperatures, paving the way for new experimental practices. This letter, although seemingly ordinary, illustrates his close ties with the great scientific figures of his time and his frequent travels in the course of his scientific and academic activities.
