This is the text of a speech in tribute to Charles Maurras, delivered at a banquet of the weekly Aspects de la France. Each anniversary of his death was an occasion to commemorate his memory. Here, Henri Massis recalls Charles Maurras’s meeting with the Provençal poet Frédéric Mistral. The letter accompanying the manuscript is included. Henri Massis is leaving for the countryside to rest. In a postscript: “Here is a small manuscript, the text of a speech from the Aspects banquet [of France, a weekly publication of Action française] and a photo from a time when I looked better.” We also include the signed and dedicated photographic portrait.
