Autograph letter signed by Henri de Régnier, addressed to Jacques Boulenger, dated June 1914 in Paris. Written in black ink on a sheet of gray laid paper, stamped and postmarked June 4, 1914.

“Dear Sir,

I deeply regret not being free on June 10, as it would have given me the opportunity to thank you for your kind sending of your latest book.

I made a delightful journey with you to the Land of Gérard de Nerval, and with all my gratitude I send you the expression of my cordial and devoted regards.”

Document dated only a few weeks before the outbreak of the First World War, offering direct testimony to the relationship between two leading French writers on the eve of a major rupture in European history.

Jack Amand Romain Boulenger, known as Jacques Boulenger, born on September 27, 1879 in Paris 8th district and died on November 22, 1944 in the same district, was a French writer, literary critic, literary historian, and journalist.
