Guy de MAUPASSANT Autograph letter card signed Very beautiful signature

Autographed letter card signed "Guy de Maupassant" 140 rue de France, Nice, 1 p. Letterhead with embossed initials "GM". This letter card (possibly addressed to Jacques Normand) concerns a request for a Portuguese translation of the play Musotte, which originated from Jacques Normand's idea to adapt Maupassant's short story for the theater. This play was first performed in Paris on the stage of the Gymnase on March 4, 1891, and achieved great success. After the failure of his earlier plays ten years earlier, Maupassant finally earned some money from the theater, which surprised him and this episode somewhat illuminated the last painful and challenging years of his life. The card is written from the family villa in Nice, at the home of his beloved mother, Laure de Maupassant. Size with frame (included): 21 x 15 cm vertical (or 10 x 15 cm horizontal, at your choice) / Card only: 9 x 11.5 cm. I am sending you a letter from a Portuguese person regarding Musotte. Believe me, dear sir, in my very cordial sentiments.
Shortly after this card, during the summer of the same year, Maupassant's health deteriorated significantly. He confided in his friend, painter Louis Fournier. "No one recognizes me anymore, that is a fact. I suffer more and more from horrible migraines.
Only antipyrine gives me a little calm. But I believe it is because of this poison that I now have terrible gaps in my memory. The simplest words escape me. If I need the word sky or the word house, they suddenly disappear from my brain." By the end of that same year, the decision was made for his hospitalization.
Maupassant passed away at Dr. Blanche's clinic in Passy on July 6, 1893, at the age of 42. The letter card is in excellent condition.
