De Grouchy, from Aunay-sur-Odon on November 17 (Calvados). It can be dated between 1820, the year of his return from the United States, and 1826, the year of his brother Henri François's death. He has not yet regained his title of marshal. 1 three-quarters page, front and back, on a sheet of 4 pages in-8°. A fold at the bottom, in the outer corner of the sheet, does not hinder the reading of the text on the first page. He responds to a request for a recommendation made by friends from Bordeaux. "My brother having replaced me on the war committee and as inspector general, it is he who has received the gracious letter that was intended for me, albeit late. He has just handed it to me. I regret to inform you that he was unable to place Mr. Meynier on the advancement board; his inspection work was completed when he received your recommendation. Personally, allow me to thank you for remembering me, and believe me that if I had returned to Bordeaux, I would not have failed to thank you in person for the kind welcome that you and Mr. Pierlot so graciously extended to me during my stay.
