General Count Charles Pajol – Signed Autograph Letter – Versailles, 1876.

The letter is dated Versailles, August 3, 1876. Written in brown ink on a folded sheet of cream wove paper, with a blind-embossed monogram topped by a count’s coronet.

In this letter addressed to a colonel, General Pajol first mentions a recent personal tragedy—his wife’s miscarriage, following the loss of a child three months earlier—which explains his delay in replying.

He then warmly advocates for his correspondent’s son to be admitted to a detachment at the military depot in Rambouillet, promising to recommend him personally to Colonel Manet.
