Jean-Baptiste-Marie-Gaston Baty was a man of the theater, born in Pélussin on May 26, 1885, and died in the same town on October 13, 1952. He was one of the founders in 1927 of the theatrical "Cartel" with Louis Jouvet, Charles Dullin, and Georges Pitoëff.
