He implores her kindness to indicate another day for a visit before the departure of the Countess of Laval and presents his sincerest regrets. I feel the utmost displeasure, - I find myself forced to stay in bed today and I would be very unhappy not to benefit from Madame la Baronne's presence at my home.

Would it be too presumptuous of her perfect kindness to hope she would kindly let me know another day before Madame la C departs? I would place an infinite value on this new mark of her goodness.

I beg her to accept the expression of my most sincere regret and the homage of the respect with which I have the honor to be her very humble and very obedient servant.
