Beautiful letter evoking his youth, his disappointed hopes of the French Academy, and his book \I remember with confusion the odious kid I was in high school and I feel a tightness of heart when I think how much I showed myself carried away against you and so many others. Will you believe that this affectionate sentiment which you show me after so many years is very sweet to me, the more so as it proves to me that you know how to retain from your friends only that which they have less bad. And that's why you talk about my poetry with so much kindness! Yes, it is true, my glory is growing, I feel that I have a crowd, but in the midst of what fierce hatred which, sometimes subtly silenced, so young, lived for two hundred years more, the Academy seemed to have welcomed.

The most important thing is, I live here a little lonely with many friends in the distance, including you. I married four years ago and I have three daughters I can finally write a work where I realize myself: Christian georgics. You will read the song at the next mercury.
