In this short letter, written from his Parisian address at 22 rue Visconti, Carco addresses an unnamed correspondent, likely a poet or a regular collaborator of the magazine. He asks him to send a series of unpublished poems within eight days, due to an upcoming issue largely dedicated to fantasy, a literary tone to which Carco remains attached in his early days. The letter clearly evokes the editorial functioning of a literary magazine in Belle Époque France, in a circle where Apollinaire, Max Jacob, Salmon, and Cendrars were active.

Carco, then a young man of 27, has not yet published Jésus-la-Caille (1914), but is already immersed in the bohemian and artistic circles of Montmartre and the Latin Quarter. This piece serves as an interesting document regarding his early literary activity and his publishing networks. I am writing to you at the [table]. From the journal, but I would be obliged.
