Eugène LABICHE - Autographed letter signed - Play "Mr de Coyllin" - 1887. Autographed letter signed, Souvigny, October 24, 1887, 1 page in 8, envelope preserved. Letter from Labiche stating that he is ill and has given up working. He will die 3 months later. He mentions one of his earliest plays "Monsieur de Coyllin ou l'Homme infiniment poli," which he retrospectively judges to be poor.] I have been ill for several years and have completely given up working. I therefore have nothing unpublished to send you. My first play was performed in 1838 at the Palais-Royal; it is called Mr de Coyllin, and it is not good.

I authorize you to perform it, without any obligation, it has been printed in the theatrical magazine [..." Monsieur de Coyllin ou l'Homme infiniment poli is a one-act comedy by Eugène Labiche, Auguste Lefranc, and Marc-Michel (under the collective pseudonym Paul Dandré), first performed in Paris at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal on July 2, 1838. It was published by Basile Marchant, in his collection of the Theatrical Magazine.
