Autograph letter signed by Émile Duclaux, French physicist, biologist, and chemist, successor to Louis Pasteur as director of the Pasteur Institute. The letter is dated July 24, with no year. Written in purple ink on a sheet of watermarked laid paper.

In this letter, Émile Duclaux congratulates his correspondent on a recent promotion that will delight all friends of agriculture, and asks about a cultivation method for eliminating tufted hair grass (Aira cespitosa), a weed that invades the volcanic pastures of livestock farmers in Cantal.

Condition: Very good overall condition. Presence of horizontal folds inherent to mailing, traces of tabs on the reverse, and slight foxing and soiling. See photos and description for more details.
