Autographed signed letter-card from Émile de Laveleye, addressed to Gustave Moynier, written in black ink on a “Universal Postal Union Belgium” postcard with stamp and postmark from Liège dated July 25, 1884. “I am going to Basel in August to preside over the Conference on Public Morality.” He also asks his correspondent whether someone in Geneva could provide him with information on the subject. Dimensions: 13.5 x 20.8 cm. Condition: Traces of a tab on the back, otherwise in very good condition. See photos and description for more details. Number of pages: 1 page.

Émile Louis Victor, Baron de Laveleye, born on April 5, 1822 in Bruges and died on January 2, 1892 at Doyon Castle, was a Belgian economist, political scientist, historian, and writer. Louis Gabriel Gustave Moynier was a Swiss jurist. From 1864 to 1910, he was president of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which he founded with Henry Dunant, General Dufour, Dr. Louis Appia, and Théodore Maunoir.
