Set of 7 signed autograph letters dating from 1865 to 1884, mostly addressed to Émile Aucante. In general, he asks to join L’Univers illustré, the newspaper, to work on a few articles and publications, because “life is difficult, literary life especially, when one wants to remain in an honorable position”; he assures his correspondent that he was indeed invited to his wedding, but that the invitation letter was probably not delivered to him; he asks his correspondent for the dates of two legal texts: 1) the one that made the State the owner of municipal property, on condition that it pay the communes’ debts.
2) The one that repealed the first.
