Elena Ghica, born on February 3, 1828, in Bucharest and died on November 17, 1888, in Florence, was a Romanian princess of Albanian origin. Known by the pen name Dora d'Istria, she was a painter, writer, essayist, historian, and traveler. She primarily wrote in French and Italian.
