The Orphan of the 41st. D [1872] In-12° (171 x 116 mm), [3] ff. Half blue shagreen, spine with 5 false ribs adorned, covers of blue percaline with ex-dono at the center and a frame of a cold file, moiré silk endpapers, gilt edges (binding of the period).

Edition published undated by Dillet, presentation copy to Dr. Rouault de Couesquelan, with ex-dono stamped on the upper cover (“To Mr. ROUAULT DE COUESQUELIN / AFFECTIONATE MEMORY / FROM THE AUTHOR”). Stuffed with a signed autograph letter on embossed paper, glued to the upper endpaper. The pleasure of giving pleasure is the sweetest of pleasures.
