Coquelin elder & younger - Signed autograph letter and card - Comédie-Française. Signed autograph letter from Ernest Coquelin. A member of the Comédie-Française, famous for his comic roles and dramatic monologues.

The letter is dated October 30, 1881. Written in black ink on laid paper.

In this letter, Coquelin younger rejects a text entitled Les Étrennes submitted by an author, judging it to lack comic or dramatic force. Autograph visiting card of Constant-Benoît Coquelin, known as Coquelin elder, one of the most famous French actors of the 19th century, and creator of the role of Cyrano de Bergerac. Written in black ink on card stock. On this visiting card, Coquelin elder, apparently recovered from an injury or accident that left one arm disabled, gives complimentary tickets for a dress rehearsal to a female correspondent. Dimensions: 10.1 x 13 cm.

Condition: Very good overall condition. Traces of old mounting tabs. On the back of the letter and the visiting card. The letter shows some foxing and smudging. The back of the visiting card has traces of glue at each corner.
