Autographed letter signed to a friend, 1945. Autographed letter signed by Charlotte CALMIS, dated 1945, in Saint-Tropez, addressed to a friend, Monsieur [L'Abbé]. In this letter, the woman who would found the group of women artists in 1972, after reflecting on the place of women, the recognition of their creation and art; says the following about her husband whom she encouraged to become a sculptor in 1942. Believe that my attitude towards my dear husband whom I love with all my tenderness like a child, a brother, has been well thought out.

I carry all the drama within me, to let him be free, to find work, to find himself as a man. I have relieved him of the material responsibility of my life. Believe that it is terribly hard for me.
