Autograph letter signed by G. Lenotre, dated January 22, 1921, written on stationery bearing the letterhead “L’Illustration – 13, rue Saint-Georges, Paris.” Addressed to “My dear friend,” G. Lenotre warmly thanks his correspondent for the kindness and affection recently shown to him. “How you know how to spoil your friends!

” “I am deeply grateful for your affection.” He mentions several kind gestures toward him in the pages of the newspaper before asking, “How can I thank you?” He closes this very friendly letter by assuring his correspondent of his “long-standing affection” and expressing his deepest gratitude and devotion.

An interesting piece of personal correspondence from the historian, written on L’Illustration letterhead and attesting to his close ties with the newspaper’s management.

Old horizontal mailing fold, some creasing, and minor signs of age.

More pronounced folds and creasing in the upper right corner, where the paper is slightly fragile.
