Branly, on the letterhead of the Physics Laboratory, May 12, 1916. “I have the happy fortune of having to pose before a Master. Cholleux informs me of this. Please let me know when you have the leisure to make an appointment; I will do my utmost to make myself available to you.
” Edouard Branly is a scientist, researcher, and physician. His correspondent is very likely the Spanish painter Ign. Cio Zuloaga y Zabaleta, who has been in Paris since 1889.
He has already painted the portrait of Barrès, who is close to Cholleux. The portrait of Branly would have been painted before 1920. It is currently at the Carnavalet Museum.
Le Cholleux, a literary pseudonym of René Brisy, is an important member of the Rosati Society (Arras, 1856 - Paris, 1930).
