Gabriel Ferrier, born on 29 September 1847 at nîmes, died on 6 June 1914 at bets. Is a French orientalist painter.Born to a pharmacist father, gabriel ferrier entered the school of betting fine arts. Where he becomes the pupil of ernest hebert and isidore pils. He exhibited at the salons from 1869. Winner of the first great prize of Roma painting in 1872 for a deluge scene, he stayed at the academy. From france to rome between 1873 and 1876.
Returning to France, he specializes in portraits of personalities of the third republic. In 1883 he travelled to Algeria from where he brought back some orientalist paintings. He won a gold medal at the 1889 universal exhibition in Paris. Gabriel Ferrier later became a drawing teacher at the schools of the Legion of Honour and taught at the school of betting fine arts, succeeding Jean-leon gérôme.
