Vallery-Radot" addressed to a friend. In-8 folded in two (22.5 x 17.7 cm). Autographed letter from René Vallery-Radot, writer, historian, and son-in-law of Louis Pasteur, dated April 4, 1884. He was one of the closest intimates of Louis Pasteur due to his marriage to Marie-Louise Pasteur. This privileged family position gave him access to Pasteur's daily life, thoughts, and work, which he sought to promote with deep fidelity. He dedicated an essential part of his life to preserving and transmitting Pasteur's legacy, notably through his famous biography "La Vie de Pasteur," a reference work. His unique closeness makes him an indispensable witness to understanding the man behind the great scientist. The letter is addressed to a friend (not identified) and contains a direct reference to Pasteur and his work, through a letter from him. The author specifies that he read the letter to Pasteur himself, who tasked him with delivering this difficult-to-read note, but "who will be rewarded for their effort." The text concludes with a note full of enthusiasm. "It seems to me we could start singing 'Ça ira'." This reference, charged with enthusiasm, reflects the climate of excitement surrounding Louis Pasteur's work at the time, particularly striking since this correspondence dates about a year before the first success of rabies treatment in 1885, one of the most decisive breakthroughs in modern medicine. Here is the letter I received from Mr.

I read it to Mr. Pasteur, who asked me to send you this little note that is difficult to read, but you will be rewarded for your effort. I would have liked to respond to Mr. I do not know his address. Please excuse me to him.

I send you my warmest regards. It seems to me we could start singing 'Ça ira'." Discover our new arrivals and selections exclusively: I subscribe to the newsletter. Follow us on Instagram: Librairie Julien Eppe.
