Autographed Letter Signed by Fontanes dated June 20, 1809, concerning the tickets he received for the public session of the Athénée des Arts. 1 page, in-8° format (24×20). Jean-Pierre Louis, Marquis de Fontanes, was a French writer, born on March 6, 1757, in Niort, and died on March 17, 1821. A poet and man of action, Louis de Fontanes was at once the heir to the taste of Racine and Fénelon against all literary theorization, an admirer of the political common sense of Henry IV and George Washington, who preserves and perfects against all destructive audacity.

He is also a bon vivant endowed with the manners and gallantry of old France. FONTANES (Jean-Pierre Louis, Marquis de Fontanes).
