In this letter, Salacrou reports an attempt to intervene on behalf of Thierry Maulnier with several influential members of the National Committee of Writers.

"This morning, at the National Committee of Writers - or more precisely, before the meeting - I spoke about you to a few of my friends who were presiding over 'your case' [. But my little backstage intrigue fortunately turned out to be unnecessary: your name was not mentioned. Which would have been a foolish thing to do. But we are not far from foolishness at the moment. Finally, this did not take place.
