Autographed letter to his mother, 1813. Autographed letter from Marquis Armand de Lostanges, addressed to his mother, dated May 5, 1813. Written in ink on a double sheet of vellum paper.
"I went today to Courbevoie, my dear mom, to find out if my regiment was being formed. I was told it was in Paris at the Caserne de la Pépinière, so I went there immediately, and I arrived just as they were calling the roll. There are already twelve hundred men in the regiment, and new ones are arriving every day. I believe we will depart in fifteen days; we are waiting for the soldiers to be equipped. I saw my company; my two second lieutenants (since there is no lieutenant) came to pay their respects to their captain, and I received them kindly with a glass in hand.We went to the restaurant, painted like good soldiers. Tell this to my grandmother, whom I embrace, and tell my grandfather that Mr. de Paris presents his respects to him (I embrace you, mom).
