Here is the sonnet you were kind enough to ask me for for Musée pour tous. I hope the artist you choose will find enough inspiration for his drawing there.

I would be grateful if you could send me the proof of the sonnet a few days before the issue number. Please accept, my dear colleague, the expression of my most distinguished sentiments.

In October, the woods are like a great orchard,
Where autumn has emptied its horn of plenty.
From the tops of the reddish trees, swayed by a light wind,
Beechnuts, rowan berries, and ripe acorns rain down on the path.

The whole village comes there to gather them by the basketful.
The sun is smiling, the bird is chirping, and its song
Makes the poor lads believe summer is beginning again,
So much has the forest taken on a springtime glow.

Suddenly the sky fills with unfamiliar sounds...
Harbingers of winter, and now at the end of the streets
Pass the battalions of traveling swans.
The air grows cool, the sun sinks into the mist,
And with their sacks on their backs, toward the smoking hamlet,
The bent peasants make their way home, lost in thought.
